PUNJABI DEPARTMENT

Punjabi Department was established in 1965. First faculty member of this department was Dr. Darshan Grover, and course was B.A. (Pass). Punjabi was taught to B.A. (Pass) I, II, III year students. In 1982 Dr. Jagjit Kaur joined Punjabi epartment. Present teacher- in- charge is Dr. Nirmal Shahid and she joined this department in 2004. B.A. (Prog.) was started in 2012. Presently there are three faculty members in Punjabi department, one permanent and two guest faculty. Total workload is of 40 lectures. Total strength of Punjabi students in first year is 40 of students. Punjabi department has its own society, ‘Punjabi Literary and Cultural Society’.

 COURSE OFFERED:

·         The Department has been offering Punjabi language and literature course at B.

A. Pass level (since 1965) for I, II, III year students.

·         In 2012 the Department started B.A. (Prog.), B.Com (Prog.)

·         In 2013-2014 the Department started B.A. (Prog.) FVUP

·         Now Department offering Choice based credit system (CBCS) for B. Programme students.

·         The programme has 4 Core papers (DSC), 2 DSE, 2 MIL Core, 1 AECC, 4 SEC, 2 GE papers.

 PUNJABI LITERARY AND CULTURAL SOCIETY

This Society keeps doing literary and cultural activity from time to time. Punjabi students have been actively participating in competitions in other colleges and have won many prizes.
