About The Library

Lakshmibai College has a well-stocked library of approximately 65000 books. The library services are fully automated with internet facility, Wi-Fi Connectivity, and a spacious reading room which remains open to students throughout the year from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. (Except Saturdays, Sundays, and Gazetted holidays).

Books—in the General and Text Book sections—are issued for one week only. Books—in the Reserve Section—are issued with advance reservation and prior permission of the Librarian. Reference books and periodicals are available for consultation only. The College library is fully automated and uses Koha Software.  It also uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for efficient management of the library and its services with RFID-enabled library cards. The Library subscribes to a total of 45 newspapers and magazine and has a rich collection of various reference sources such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlas, and yearbooks etc. The Library also provides access to all e-journals and e-books through a host of high quality electronic databases subscribed by Delhi University System (DULS) to its users. The Library has one air-conditioned e-resource room with 22 computers for the users. For visually impaired students, 225 Braille books & other facilities are available in the library. WEB OPAC (Web On-Line Public Access Catalogue) facility is provided for users. The Library is also providing the e-resources through N-List programme of INFLIBNET and through DELNET.

E-Resource Room

The college library has set up a separate e-resource room for the faculty as well as students for access of e-resources subscribed by the college and DULS. It is located on the first floor of the library with a capacity of 22 laptops with internet connection.

Inter Library Loan (ILL)

College Library also offers Inter Library Loan (ILL) services to the faculty, staff, and students and library add-ons its stock by obtaining resources from other libraries on demand from the users. LBC library has institutional membership of DELNET.

WEB OPAC

The college library has a WEB OPAC (Web Online Public Access Catalogue) system for making the library user-friendly for faculty, staff, and students. It also helps the users to check the availability of required books from everywhere at any time and the user has also an option to reserve the document with a login id.

 Orientation Programs

The library organizes a library orientation program to educate the users on how to use libraries-their sources and services so that they can avail library services to a great extent.
