MAHATMA GANDHI- an epitome of serenity, a real personification of truth and non-violence.

In today's modern world when each soul is short of these qualities and each mind lacks peace, The Gandhi Study Circle at Lakshmibai College has put on its shoulders the responsibility of passing on 'Bapu's' heritage to each one in his country. With a view to make each life fuller and with an objective of making this world a better place to live in, Gandhi Study Circle is all determined to 'Celebrate Gandhi' in all his aspects and perspectives. Moving on with its resolution, GSC keeps organising various events both in and outside the college premises.

To mark the beginning of the academic session 2015-16, the Orientation Day, held on 21st July 2015 was graced by the ‘Oath Taking Ceremony’ organized by the Gandhi Study Circle. The students and teachers of Lakshmibai College wholeheartedly took a pledge for working together towards a ‘Swatchh Bharat’. Keeping the spirit of its name alive, Gandhi Study Circle organized a function on 30th September 2015 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti to honor the selfless devotion of the Father of our Nation. The function was organized under the convenorship of Dr. Sushma Aggarwal, Dr. Vanita Aggarwal and Dr. Beena Gupta. To commemorate the occasion, our students sung bhajans and recited verses from various religious scriptures. Our Hon’ble principal, Dr. PratyushVatsala, enlightened the gathering with her inspiring and cultivated expressions on Gandhian teachings, which further initiated a rich and fertile discussion bed, flourishing each mind and filling the air with huge positivity and knowledge.

Apart from these occasional celebrations, Gandhi Study Circle is known for conducting a series of events round the year to ensure a steady flow of essence of Gandhian teachings to the new generation. These include wall painting and cleanliness drive, to name some.

To make students connect with Gandhiji’s theoretical ideology and shower it with some light of practicality, on 20th January 2016, Dr. Sushma Aggarwal accompanied around 25 students to National Gandhi Museum followed by Rajghat for a movie screening and photo exhibition on Gandhiji’s Ashrams. It was a huge learning experience for the students. They also got the opportunity of learning to spin ‘charkha’, which was then bought and brought to the college to extend this opportunity to those who could not manage to go out for this excursion. Recently, on 30th January 2016, The Gandhi Study Circle organised a talk-cum-presentation on ‘Gandhiji’s life teachings’. The event was followed by a poster making competition for the students.
