Career Profile

Lt. (Dr.) Seema Sharma (Kaushik) is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Sports at Lakshmibai College for last 18 years; and also contributing as an Associate NCC Officer under 7 Delhi Girls Bn. since Dec., 2009. She also served as Director (Sports) on deputation for the XIX Commonwealth Games, 2010. 

As an international athlete, she won 13 medals for India in different Asian Masters Athletics Championship including 2 Gold medals at Singapore in 2016 (4x100m & 4x400m relay races); 1 Silver at Kitakami, Japan in 2014 (4x400m); 1 Gold (4x400m) & 2 bronze medals (800m & 1500m) at Chinese Taipei in 2012; 1 Gold (4x400m) & 1 bronze (400m) at Malaysia in 2010; and 2 Gold (1500 & 4x400), 2 Silver (400 & 800) and 1 bronze (200m) at Malaysia in the 28th Malaysian Open International in 2014. She represented India in World Masters Athletics Championship at Brazil in 2013 & USA in 2011. Basically she is a national Judo player (1994) and black belt holder in Judo (1997), she also captained the University of Delhi in All India Inter University Yoga Championship at Gujarat (1993), and was a part of LNCPE team to win gold in All India Inter University Gymnastics at Kurukshetra (1994).

She is the recipient of Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences at Vienna, Austria (2019), Delhi Sports Rattan Award (2019), Best A.N.O. (SW) (2019), National Award for being the Best Physical Education Teacher in India (2018), Veerta Puraskar for NCC (2017), Director General’s Commendation Card for meritorious service in NCC (2011), Commandant’s Silver Medal for standing 2nd in order of merit at the Pre-Commission Training for 3-months at OTA, Gwalior (2009), Best Young Scientist by the Sports Psychology Association of India (2006), Best Paper Award by the Indian Society of Bio-mechanics (2001), Best Judo Coach by Delhi Judo Council (2001), Dr. S. Radahakrishnan Memorial National Award for Teachers by All India Freelance Journalist & Writers Association (2001),Woman of the Year-1999 by the American Biographical Institute (1999), Best Judo Player in Delhi State (1991), and lead the NCC wing of LBC to get the NCC Achievers Award for being the Best College in NCC(SW) (2018).

She has also been awarded the International Research Scholarship by the International Convention of Science, Education and Medicine in Sports (ICSEMIS) 2012 held at Glasgow, Scotland in 2012; co-authored five books in the field of physical education; and has around 35 research papers/ articles/ chapters in books published to her credit.
